Reminder: Open CDFI Certification Question & Answer Call on October 17th
The Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) recently announced that beginning with the fiscal year (FY) 2020 application round, all CDFI Program and NACA Program Financial Assistance applicants must be certified CDFIs as of the date the Notice of Funds Availability (NOFA) is published in the Federal Register.
This means the CDFI Fund will no longer process funding applications and CDFI certification applications simultaneously for CDFI Program and NACA Program Financial Assistance (FA) award round applicants.
Reviewing, evaluating, and then providing a determination on CDFI certification applications can take up to 90 days from when a completed application is received by the CDFI Fund. Since the CDFI Fund tentatively plans to publish the NOFA for the FY 2020 CDFI Program and NACA Program application round in early 2020, organizations are advised to keep this 90-day certification evaluation timeline in mind when planning to submit a certification application.
Questions about Certification?
The CDFI Fund’s Certification, Compliance Monitoring, and Evaluation team conducts monthly CDFI Certification conference calls. These conference calls are intended to serve as a forum for potential CDFI Certification Applicants, certified CDFIs, and other CDFI certification stakeholders to ask questions and discuss the CDFI certification process.
If your organization is interested in becoming a certified CDFI in order to apply for Financial Assistance through the FY 2020 CDFI Program and NACA Program application round, the monthly certification conference call scheduled for this week is a good opportunity to ask any questions that you may have about certification. The call will be held on Thursday, October 17, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
A complete schedule of the CDFI Certification conference calls is located on the CDFI Fund’s website here. Information on accessing the October conference call is provided below.
